Using the Plugin


➊ Open the Plugin

  1. Open your Figma file
  2. Go to Plugins menu
  3. Click Select by Name

The plugin window will open, showing all elements on your current page.

➋ Choose Your Search Scope

At the top of the plugin, you'll see three scope options:

  1. Selection: Search only within your currently selected layers
  2. Page: Search within the current page (default)
  3. Document: Search across all pages in the document

Click on your preferred scope to activate it.

➌ Filter Elements


Basic Text Search

  1. Type in the search box to filter elements by name
  2. Results update in real-time as you type
  3. Click the ✖︎ button to clear your search


Type Filtering

  1. Click the filter icon (funnel) next to the search box
  2. Type filter chips will appear below
  3. Click on any type chip to filter by that element type
  4. Click multiple chips to combine filters
  5. Click again to deselect a filter

Select Elements


Individual Selection

  1. Click any item in the list to select it
  2. Selected items are highlighted in blue
  3. Hold Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) to select multiple items


Bulk Selection Tools


Click the chevron next to the count display to reveal:

  1. Select All: Select all visible items in the list
  2. Deselect All: Clear all selections
  3. Invert Selection: Swap selected and unselected items


Preview Before Selecting

  1. Hover over any list item
  2. Click the eye icon that appears
  3. Figma will zoom to that element without selecting it
  4. Great for locating items in complex documents

Apply Your Selection

  1. Review your selected items (shown with blue highlighting)
  2. Click the Select button at the bottom
  3. The plugin will select all chosen items in your Figma canvas
  4. Figma will zoom to show all selected elements

☻ Usage Examples


🅰 Find All Buttons

  1. Open the plugin
  2. Type "button" in the search box
  3. All elements with "button" in their name appear
  4. Click Select All to select them all
  5. Click Select to apply


🅱 Select All Text Elements on a Page

  1. Open the plugin with Page scope active
  2. Click the filter icon
  3. Click the Text chip
  4. All text layers on the page are shown
  5. Use Select All or choose specific items
  6. Click Select


🅲 Find Elements Across the Entire Document

  1. Switch to Document scope
  2. Type your search term (e.g., "icon")
  3. Results from all pages appear
  4. Select the items you need
  5. Click Select to jump to and select them


🅳 Organize Complex Designs

  1. Select a complex component in your design
  2. Switch to Selection scope
  3. The plugin shows all nested layers
  4. Filter by type (e.g., "Rectangle")
  5. Select specific nested elements
  6. Make bulk changes easily
