About this plugin
GitFig - GitHub for Design v1.3.1GitFig connects your Figma files directly to GitHub repositories: bi-directional sync and version control for yourdesign system.HOW IT WORKSConnect any GitHub repository you have access to, or create a new one from inside the pluginMap JSON token files to Figma Variables, Color styles, Text styles, or Effect stylesPull tokens from GitHub to create or update Variables and StylesCommit the changes you check and push them to GitHub, or open a pull requestVARIABLE MODES (FREE DURING THE PREVIEW)Sync every mode of your variable collections (light/dark, multi-brand, density) in both directions using mode-keyedtoken files: root keys are mode names, and every mode shares the same token structure. One variable gets one value permode on pull, never duplicates. Per-mode change detection shows exactly which mode changed.
Variable modes sync is free for everyone during the v1.3 preview. It becomes part of GitFig Pro, a paid plan, in afuture release; pricing will be announced before that happens, and you can opt in to a one-time launch heads-up insidethe plugin. The core workflow stays free.
Note: modes per collection are limited by your Figma plan. The Figma Starter plan allows one mode per collection, somulti-mode sync requires a paid Figma plan.GIT-STYLE WORKFLOWGitFig detects changes to your Variables and Styles within seconds and lists them with checkboxes.
Changes: every edit, per mode, with the old and new value a hover awayCommit: exactly the changes you check, with a message (the first line is the subject)Ready to push: review your commits, then push them to GitHub in one atomic commitPull asks before overwriting edits you have not committed, and every pull can be undone in one step.FEATURESBi-directional sync between Figma and GitHubVariable modes: sync all modes of a collection in one fileStyles sync both ways: color, text, and effect styles import on pull and export on pushAlias references round-trip as readable {Collection.path.to.token} referencesYour metadata is safe: pushes preserve $extensions and other custom $-metadata in your repoMulti-file push: each mapping writes its own file, all in one atomic commitSafe by default: GitFig warns before you push over unpulled commits or pull over uncommitted editsBranch support: switch branches, create new ones, open pull requests from FigmaNew repositories start with starter primitives, a light/dark semantic collection, and color and text stylesSupports W3C Design Tokens, Style Dictionary, and Tokens Studio formatsCross-device: create commits on one device, push from anotherReadable, resizable UI with zoom (Ctrl/Cmd +, -, 0)PERFECT FORDesign systems teams managing tokens in codeTeams maintaining light/dark or multi-brand themesDesigners who want version control for their workTeams using GitHub for design-developer handoffRESOURCESWebsite: gitfig.comDocumentation: docs.gitfig.com (guides, tutorials, reference)Community: github.com/ds1/gitfig-community (announcements, support, discussion)SPREAD THE LOVELeave a Like (heart) and share the plugin to help others discover GitFig.
